Welcome to the most durable 10L1000 outer drive shell upgrade on the market. We were faced with a huge challenge, an item that can’t be made of steel as steel is magnetically reactive and would confuse the speed sensors. Yet, we could not CNC machine because of its shape and complexity - it would simply cost far too much. This is not just a simple color-changing anodization that yields no meaningful durability benefit but rather a complete remaster of this problematic component. In fact, this product tests at an impressive 45% stronger than OEM, making it a MUST for any heavy duty build!
This forged aluminum outer drive shell is proudly nickelized, heat treated and cured right in the USA, allowing us to have complete and total control over the quality of our product. Due to the unique way this product fails (clutch plates eating into the surface), we had to test this product using Moh’s Hardness Scale to calculate how much stronger it would be compared to OEM. Moh’s Hardness Scale is the gold standard for calculating surface strength of minerals and alloys.
The factory cheap aluminum shell tested a 2.75 on Moh’s Scale, simply not impressive. Our nickelized, hardened shell tests at an intense 4.0, an over 45% increase in strength over the factory shell. Anodization, a common and cheap way to “upgrade” this shell, does not provide any meaningful increase in surface strength compared to a non-anodized surface against this type of force. It may be useful for slowing down wear on valves or things of that nature, but it’s wet paper to steel clutches supporting the entire torque load of the engine. This is the only 10L1000 outer drive shell on the market that truly resolves this problem.
