Updated OEM 10L90-E Range Sensor:
The factory General Motors 10L90-E range sensor (sometimes called Neutral Safety Switch) is on the outside of the transmission and faces the elements. It is not unheard of for the range sensor to degrade or fail completely, causing the transmission to have trouble electronically understanding if it's in Park, Reverse, Neutral or Drive. The range sensor should be replaced during any rebuild. For your convenience, Next Gen Drivetrain carries updated OEM Aisin Seiki range sensors. Still have questions? Call in and speak to an expert.
